Maybe we won't be swimming much...

Wow. I was all excited that our town just built a public swimming pool (something they haven't had until now). I just figured up how much it will cost for me to take the kids for ONE VISIT: $26.

Forget swimming every day.

In Germany it would cost us just under $12.

*faints*

Maybe they think they're going to recoup their costs this way? There are only about two months out of the year when it's warm enough to swim outside. But the city council really pushed to have this an outdoor pool. Um...they'd get a lot more traffic if it were enclosed and usable in the other 10 months.

It sounds like a letter to the editor is required.

Well, we went. Now I see what their intent is. They have a number of waterslides and are trying to bill it as a water park more than a swimming pool. It does have both elements--but on a small scale. I still don't think the prices need to be that high! Or if they are, I wish there was a regular swimming pool somewhere for just swimming. Boy scouts is HUGE in this area, and the one thing the boys always have a hard time passing is the swimming requirement.
