I hate moving!!!
I hate hate hate hate HATE moving. My kids are going to have PTSD fits whenever they hear tape unrolled. I took all the pictures down today and boxed them up, which probably isn't helping, but I wanted a chance to clean the walls. (I haven't gotten to that yet, of course.) Some friends came over and the 4YO wanted to play with a certain ball. Which was boxed up a couple weeks ago. Meltdown ensued. Then he got to work and took down a shelf in his room and boxed and taped the whole thing up, which was actually rather constructive. However, he's spent the past 45 minutes on and off shrieking. Also, the neighbors are coming to pick up our piano tonight. Which is good, since we can't take it with us and they were delighted to take it off our hands. Also, we picked up a nice keyboard from university surplus and repaired it, and now we have a weighted 88 key electric piano that we CAN take with us. (Real pianos are still better!!!) But I just remember the last time we moved a piano out. We were moving and our piano was going to the people in the next building. And we had a rising kindergartener then, as well. And when the crew came to pushing it out the door, my son threw his arms over the doorway and wouldn't let them out. And screamed. And screamed. Naturally, that was the same moment the fire department chose to go door to door in our neighborhood, checking people's smoke alarms as a courtesy. I promise we weren't hurting him. Even if it sounded like that.
I'm sort of expecting a repeat tonight. I'm wondering if I need to take both the current 4YO and the now 15YO out of the house for the deed...
