Encampment

My boys are home from their big scout encampment. They say they had fun, but they are sure tired. And from their descriptions, urgh! It sounds a little miserable to me! Mid-90s, kids getting sent home for heat exhaustion, no showers or water activities (it was in a big field because there were 11,000 scouts there--bet you could smell them from the road!). A few kids playing practical jokes around the er, portapotties prompted lots of adults standing guard and making sure it didn't happen again, and oh yes, kids breaking various limbs on the BMX course. My kids say that all the limbs were broken on the first day. After that, all the daredevil kids were already injured and everyone else was perfectly safe. My boys didn't do any of the shooting events (fine by me!), but they did enjoy archery and ziplines and a bunch of other stuff. I'm glad they had fun, but I bet they are so glad to get home and just chill out in the basement! (It's 93, we have no AC like most of town, and it's HOT.)
