So, to take some stress off (and also because I have wanted to do this for almost a year and have been waiting for the right weather conditions), we took a hike to Alaska Basin on Saturday. Well, we almost made it all the way. It's 7.7 miles from the start of the trailhead. We didn't quite make it to the top, but we got farther than our kids have ever walked before. We figure we did about six and a half miles, 13 if you count round trip. The 4YO walked about 9-10 of those miles himself. Not bad! It's good we stopped when we did or we wouldn't have made it back before dark. Someday, though, we're going back. Actually, someday my husband wants to make a backpacking trip out of it and hike all the way over the mountain and down into Grand Teton National Park.

Despite the weather forecast, we had rain in the morning. Luckily we brought ponchos and were able to keep going. But that means the pictures are sort of darker.

We saw tons of wildflowers. Here are a few:

It was all very beautiful, and I hope we get to go back sometime! free counter with statistics
