Cars, swimming, etc.
Jun. 10th, 2011 09:52 amMy daughter is reading this right now:

In fact, I have had to ask her to hang up her swimming towel (that she forgot about last night because she was reading) about six times this morning. This makes me smile.
The car is now in the shop. My husband drove it at 5 mph to the nearest garage and indeed, the brake pads are worn through. It's a problem they've fixed numerous times on other people's cars, and shouldn't take too long to repair. And the cost isn't too bad, either, which is a relief. The annoying thing is that a few months ago, the brakes were squealing a little and we had the car looked at because we wanted to take it to Yellowstone and not go over the edge. You'd think a brake check would be a part of all that? But it all checked out. And aside from a few day trips here and there, we haven't driven the car much since we've been here. (We buy gas maybe once a month, and DH walks to work.) So...yeah.
At any rate, we should be able to drive to swimming lessons today, which will be good, as it's hard to take that many kids on bikes on the roads. (One good thing: after the 4-mile trek plus swimming, everyone slept really well last night!) And related to swimming, I posted an article about swimming and writing here.
