Lightning and illustration
Sep. 5th, 2009 02:48 pmAnd the exhaustion continues. PMB is still sleeping terribly, plus we had this rather fantastic storm last night. Very little rain, but the lighting--it sounded like it was stabbing the ground all around us, shaking the whole earth with each hit. Once it even got so far as a huge ringing sound, like a giant bell clanging. I don't think you get that kind of storm very often. I remember once when I was growing up (also in Arkansas), we had a storm like that--strike after strike, so frequent you could read a book, even though it was the middle of the night. And the thunder rang and echoed like metal pans crashing on hard surfaces. Right now, DH and PMB are sacked out, so hopefully at least someone around here gets back to normal. Then maybe it can be my turn.
I did get to go to my "office" (ie, the library) today, and it was LOVELY. I didn't know a soul, nobody asked me for anything, and I didn't say a single word. It was SILENT. I got through about the first third of my ms on the computer, plus made notes on most of the rest of it. I am distressed to see the word count growing, but hopefully I can shave off stuff once I'm done. I wish I was more awake, though.
Oh, and I did sign up for Illustration Friday. I've made a separate blog for that one, seeing as I'm not a professional illustrator and am only doing this for fun/my own education. It felt good to draw. If writing is your creative outlet and then it becomes work, you need another kind of outlet as well, and I guess drawing is that for me. You can see that one (with all of one entry so far) here. (And yes, I know that the Wordpress page itself looks terrible--but I can't figure out how to change the title and stuff on it.) If you want to browse other people's entries, you can go to the Illustration Friday page and click on the little icons under the different kinds of media.
