I got zero writing done but it was a very nice day. First I got a lot of sleep! PMB fell asleep when I was reading to the girls last night, and then I sent them on their way and sort of collapsed. It was only 9:00. And of course it was Saturday, so even though PMB woke up a couple times, I was able to go back to sleep and then sleep until I was more or less ready to wake up. Yay!

Then Son 1's best friend (who is now going to a different middle school :( ) called and wanted to do something with my son. There is a very cool family sport/activity center in the next town over with a pool and ice skating, and so my son was invited to come along (it used to be FREE, even, and now it's only $2 for each thing). So we all went to the library, then I brought Son 1 to the friend's house, and then we went to explore a new-to-us park with the other kids. There are two big parks in town, and we know the one close to us, but this new one has a much better creek. It's got all these sheets and sheets of slate? Or some kind of rock that grows in sheets like that, flat blocks, so you can see to the bottom and it's totally clear, and there are all these great ledges to sit on while you wait for your child to accidentally on purpose fall in. So they had fun (and got wet) and even met up with another kid they knew from school. So that was good.

Then when we went to pick up Son 1, we did a s'more fest with the friend and his mom. I smell all woodsmoky now--a nice smell. :) The kids had a great time burning marshmallows to a crisp, as well as playing with the toad they found and sidestepping the massive (for America) slugs--they were almost as long as German ones, and spotted. Never seen anything like that here before. Oh yeah, and they wanted to play music off the internet and wanted to know what we've been listening to lately. So [livejournal.com profile] edawn , you can tell your husband that his evangelization of Eurovision goes on. Scary, huh?

I doubt I will get too much more done tonight, even though people are in bed now, but I'm going to try. I'm up to the point of attempting to drop info from chapter 18 (of 20) into chapter 13. Wish me luck, because if it succeeds, it wreaks major havoc on the rest of the book.

Have a great weekend, everybody!
