The sky is blue!!
May. 11th, 2009 04:18 pmWhen I brought the kids home from school today, instead of the usual jangling and arguing over who would be first inside, they just waited patiently and talked to each other. And everyone is getting along, DD1 is reading to Lap Boy, DD2 is napping, DS2 did his homework, and DS1 is interacting with him instead of sealing himself off in a computer-induced stupor. I did actually ask for this for Mother's Day--but I'm a bit surprised to see it still going on. And then I realized what is different today: I CAN SEE THE SUN!!!
So anyway, my brain is all sparking with ideas and I'm reading over my draft and adding things in and scratching things out but overall I'm feeling pleased with what I've read so far. I have not yet come to the last two chapters, which have to be completely rewritten, however. I'd really like to get these chapters finished this week so I can put on a final layer of polish and proceed. My laptop is dying again--the case has been cracked for a while, and it isn't steady enough to support the stuff inside, which pulls apart when you jiggle it now, and the whole thing shuts down. I'd just like to finish up this book before it all crumbles to dust!
In other thoughts: I was looking up some music on YouTube the other day and happened to scan the comments on a song. A person made a theological/musical statement that I didn't agree with but set me thinking. It was along the lines of, when people think they are looking for A in a song/religious experience, they are really looking for B. It wasn't a shocking thought, just one I disagreed with. (A and B are not the same thing, although both are good, IMO.) As a writer I really appreciated hearing this different viewpoint. It was like my husband and I agreeing on something, but for fundamentally different reasons. We have to be aware of that when we write. Heck, we have to be aware of that when we talk to other people, period. We might not all reason the same, but we can all still like the same songs.
I hope everyone else is having a sunny, creative day, and is able to get along with people of a variety of viewpoints. Sending virtual sunrays to all... :)
