Jul. 10th, 2008 05:23 pmWhat I need to do today:
1. Pack a hospital bag
2. Make dinner
3. Call the US to set up a meeting between a professor I've never spoken to and a possible landlord I've also never spoken to.
4. Work on the revision.
What I can't do at the moment: all of the above. You can do things when your kids are home; it's harder to do them when you're kids' friends are here, too. If I go get some food, even to snack, it means trotting out treats for the entire neighborhood. It's hard to pack your underwear with the 11-year-old boy from down the street wandering in and out, talking to you. I hate the telephone, and trying to show a possible landlord that I'm not crazy and don't keep a zoo is hard with no way to escape background noise, and well, I can't revise under these conditions. Too many interruptions. Plus, it's evening and I'm hungry and I know I won't have uninterrupted time for a while now.
At least the temperature is nice and the construction guys have gone home!
