This week I'm participating in[info]cynthialord's daily photo of your home town event. so, here you go, today's post from my town near Nurnberg, Germany:

P1160832

This is the market on the Marktplatz/Schlossplatz. You can just see the main palace (Schloss) in the background of this first picture. Formerly where the Graf (baron?) lived, it now houses the university administration. The picture below is the smaller palace, which houses the public library. The red and white striped canopies are typical market stalls in Franken, this region of Germany.

We lost. 0-1 against Spain. :(

I didn't watch Spain's other games so I didn't know what to expect, but unlike Germany's games until now, we simply weren't in possession of the ball enough. Sure, we blocked them from getting more than their one winning point, but most of the time we just couldn't keep the ball on our side, and you can't score if you don't have the ball. No overtime, just a straight game in which we never were able to score.

The Spaniards are pretty happy, esp. their coach (who looks about 60? Most coaches are half that). Angela Merkel (German chancellor) looks like she just drank a liter of vinegar. Schweinsteiger, Ballack, and Lehmann are crushed. Poor guys.

But silver's still good, right?

I foresee several articles in Der Spiegel (German news magazine kinda like Newsweek, only longer) discussing the Problems of the National Psyche Today.

My kids are going to be sad when they find out.
