Neverending story(ies)
Apr. 19th, 2008 05:28 pmI started in earnest this week on my revisions, and have now revised about 18K's worth. I am very hesitant to say if I'm getting it, since every time I do get something, it always clears my view to a huge host of other things I haven't gotten. And then I feel like this story is truly neverending--revisions definitely aren't! But I do feel somewhat good in that I know that whatever I have now is better than what I had before. And I guess that's all I can continue to strive for.
The kids, on the other hand, are enjoying their own continuing story--we have these German-Australian friends and last weekend our kids watched part of Michael Ende's The Neverending Story II (Das unendliche Geschichte) with their kids. We found part I at the library, so just now the friends showed up with part II to swap for part I. I know the movie is Hollywood American, but the book is THE classic German children's fantasy. Cornelia Funke was definitely influenced by Ende, and you see her current popularity today. The Germans do love the magic of books; hardly surprising, since they basically invented them.
Okay, now that everyone is happily occupied, I'm diving back into this and charting out the next chapter of my own revision (may it end soon!)
