I hate it when you go to use your laptop and you notice that copper wire threads are sticking out of the power cable, and sparks are flying out. (No, this is not the power supply that actually came with my latest incarnation of a laptop. In the Igorization of my old and new computers, a number of parts became mysteriously exchanged with parts on DH's laptop.)

Anyway, I'm off to buy a new power supply, and I think I'll get my name engraved on it, just so there isn't any chance of "confusion" as to which computer it goes to. It's just as well. I'm too tired to do anything mental. I'd like to write this morning, but while I was at a meeting last night the girls were watching Cinderella on my laptop, and I didn't realize that the sound was still on when I put it to sleep. Which meant that at 4 am when the battery ran out, I got to hear the alarm sound I've never heard before. At five, my six-year-old materialized at my bedside to tell me she couldn't sleep, and at 6:30 I had to get up and drag kids off extra-early (the preschool kids have a special day at school and had to be there early). So despite the great ideas regarding pacing from yesterday, I fear my writing will be complete sludge, given how much sleep I've gotten.

Great ideas on the pacing issue, though--keep them coming!

I'm already doing macramé with my brain over these revisions, so I thought it was comforting to read various writers' blogs yesterday regarding their own revision battles. One of them was the awesome Shannon Hale. Anyway, she apparently likes my idea of throwing the manuscript in question against the wall and seeing what salient parts end up sticking by the next morning.
