What Germany looks like in December

Yesterday the kids were FINALLY out of school, so we took a trip to a place we've been saving for a cold day. Neuhaus is right on the train line, a tiny dorf with a huge castle in the middle of it. First we peeked into the church (built 1491). There was a sign on the door inviting anyone in town who wanted to to help decorate (dated the day before). Here is what it looked like, all decked out in Christmas finery:



I thought the gold stars were cool. Then we hiked up the hill to the castle, where we saw a well from 1422:
