All was peaceful and quiet and I was busily writing away. Then--

Ring! Ring!

Caller ID: the middle school

"Mom, I have a stomachache and feel like I'm going to throw up..."

So now we're home and while he claims to continue to feel queasy, he also is a little bored. Which is not a bad thing. If you're too sick to stay at school, after all, you're too sick to use the computer, to ride your bike, to go to the park, etc. Maybe, just maybe, school will start to sound exciting. Do you think?

That is certainly the theory my mother used, as did I in turn. On the other hand, BD enjoyed reading so much, and that was something I never did have the heart to take away from her. So #parentfail on my part, I suspect. But still, she enjoyed and enjoys school.
