hail

There's nothing like driving to pick up your husband during a sudden severe thunderstorm (cloud to ground lightning, heavy downpour, and hail the size of large marshmallows hitting your windshield, not to mention the rivers coming down the many hills this town is built on*) to make you realize 1) scouts is not that important and 2) nature is stronger than people.

All is not lost, however. Now we actually have time to eat the banana bread we took out of the oven just before we left.

* (The hail started just as we left, and there was no flash flood warning on when we left for DH's office. There is now. If there had been, we wouldn't have gone anywhere. Don't worry, we're not completely stupid!)

We had flash flood warnings too...but far enough south, that all we got was a little rain and a ton of lightening. Glad you're safe -- how's the bread? :)

The bread was good--and now it's gone! Yum.

Yeah, the hail--I've never driven in a storm like that before, and at one point I was seriously worried that the hail might break the windshield. I'm SO glad we have a garage!

Scary...did it do damage to your car? We've had wind advisories here...of course my son is on a pioneer trek. Nice.

I'm a little scared to look at the roof...I think it's okay, but the storm sure did a number on the garden.

Nature definitely is stronger than people...I think we all forget that too often.

People are always saying how we don't get many tornadoes here "in town." I think they are deep in de Nile. Hello? Our county border OKLAHOMA. And since when did living in a town stop the weather?

Every once in a while, though, Nature reminds us she's still there...
