Please remind me that this doesn't last forever

Perpetual Motion Boy's (formerly Lap Boy) list of favorites:

Pulling out all the books from the bookshelves and yanking at the pages before walking over them
Dumping all the kitchen cupboards for which there is no latch
Staying up until midnight
Not napping unless it's on mom's lap, and if so, only for 15 minutes
Pulling hair, preferably close to the scalp
Dumping clothing drawers
Dumping the laundry basket and sucking on smelly socks
Climbing onto mom's bed (he can't get off safely because he doesn't believe in gravity)
Sleeping ONLY in mom's bed, not his own
Waking up multiple times a night
Unplugging the phone
Unrolling the toilet paper

Luckily, he also

smiles
sings
dances
looks very cute in the brief moments he is asleep

I feel like it's taking years to clean my house--maybe because every time I put one thing away, twenty things are dumped out behind me? At least I have no stairs. (That was a big drawback to our vacation--I spent the whole time pulling him off of them.)

I would roll into a ball and rock back and forth, but I can hear the sound of things being dumped in the next room...

It takes as many years to clean the house as it does for all your kids to grow up and move into their own places. At least, that is what I am beginning to believe.

It really doesn't last forever. Although she was a bit older when she hit PMB's stage, she did more than her share of emptying bookshelves and cupboard. If I had the time, I'd find the photo I finally took of her, looking in triumph and glee at me as I snapped the picture of her at work at one bookcase. If you can survive the next few months, he'll be on to the next thing, because, you know, there's always something....

Hang in there! He will grow, I promise.

I'm afraid I didn't have the patience to let D go through this stage (or E, either, but she wasn't as inclined) -- he got his first hand-slap spank at the age of 10 months...but I do know it really won't last forever :) HUGS!!

Oh man, that brings back memories. I think I'm getting hives just reading this. It gets easier--really, it does. My kids are in bed already even though it's summer break. They said they were tired and wanted to go to sleep early. It seriously gets easier! Hang in there! Hugs!

Our local library used to (still may) have a double-shelf little bookcase with all the board books on it. In no order. So toddlers could just basically pull out a book, do whatever with it, and drop it. It was wonderful. Your little guy would love it!
