Sunday
Whoa, it got up to 26 degrees today!! That's almost weather to lay out in, lol. Still subzero tonight, though...
I love Sunday nights when we don't have school the next day! We don't have to shove everyone in bed and can just relax. I like Sunday afternoons anyway, because my husband is home all day and we all just hang out, make good food, read books, and sometimes play games together. DH and the 11YO just finished making what they call explosive, peanut butter ding dongs, which is sort of an apt description. Cleanup looks to be a massive effort, but hopefully it's worth it.
So I finished revising to the point of letting someone else see one of the books I've been working on. This is the one nobody has really seen much of, and it's a genre I've never written before, so um...nervous much? I gave it to my husband to read, and after a hit and miss moment of er, dramatic reading of the first page, it's going well. As in, he has plenty of commentary (things like, are you really allowed to bring an out of state chopped up elk through that agriculture checkpoint in California?*), but overall he likes it. Since he has been known to reduce people to tears with his red pen, this is a good thing. I am alternately very, very nervous about his reaction, and tentatively hopeful that maybe the book isn't an utter flop. Being a writer is hard on the nerves, for sure!
I assume everyone is having a nice long weekend out there. I really want to do something tomorrow, as it's a holiday, but it's freezing cold and I don't know what. There are places to go...the problem is, all of them involve being freezing cold.
*Answer: In fact, yes, you are.
