Perhaps some of you read the sewing/crafting blog Homemade by Jill? Jill is my SIL and has buckets of sewing and crafting talent. She offered to do a sewing day with my girls and teach them how to sew skirts. My girls love anything to do with sewing, and were so excited! They got to use a real sewing machine and everything! (True fact: I have a sewing machine and know how to use it. Another true fact: obviously it's been a while since I have, because my girls acted like they'd never seen one before--even though our machines are identical.) My younger daughter sewed pockets into hers, and she was amazed at how, when you put the right pieces together and sew them, real pockets actually result. Jill handled the serger, but the girls did a great job on the machine. We didn't quite have enough time to finish there, but we did finish them off later. Ta da!

Thanks, Jill!
