The book fair starts today. I'm excited. My husband is nervous. He knows how no one in our family has any self control when it comes to books (um, himself included).

I'm also supposed to go up to the school pretty soon to hang pictures for the annual art show. They turn the whole school into a gallery and even have pictures for sale in the gym, the proceeds of which go to buy art supplies for next year. If I were like everyone else in this town, I would have a convenient family member who would be happy to watch my dear, sleep-deprived, totally wired 3YO so I could finish this in half an hour instead of three times that long. But I don't. I just hope this afternoon goes better than this morning. Yikes. It's one of those days of too little sleep all around, and meltdowns over things like north/north or south/south magnets on the Thomas trains repelling each other, and tantrums while standing half naked next to the clothes drawers and wailing that he's freezing and why doesn't anyone DO anything???

Last night at like, 11:00 after he'd FINALLY fallen asleep, I got all these plot ideas for a WIP, but it was too late to do anything about it (unlike the rest of my family, I am not a night person). I was sort of thinking I could put them into action this morning before spending the entire rest of the day doing things for my kids, but um...obviously that didn't happen. I like this WIP, though. I kind of want to make paper dolls of all the characters and glue them to popsicle sticks and make them act out stuff. That *may* be a result of not enough sleep, though...

Then I have to come up with something interesting to do with the cauliflower we got this week from the food co-op. Last night I used up the slightly too sour Granny smith apples by making pie inside them. It was kind of labor-intensive, but they turned out okay, and now we have individual apple pies.

Aaaaaaa! The 3YO has just decided that his pants are unwearable due to a slight water spot on the leg, and he has stripped them off. I want to say, a la RULES, that "pantless brothers are not my problem." Alas, he is my son, not my brother. Well, at least it happened at home and not at school, where I need to go in a few short minutes. Maybe he'll fall asleep in the one mile it takes to get to the school, and I can just lay him down at the edge of the hall while I hang stuff???
