There are SO many things going on in December! It's just crazy. Various Christmas parties for various organizations we're part of, plus kids' school concerts and performances, etc. Tonight was the German Club/Association/whatever their official designation is--anyway, their Christmas/end of semester dinner. It was pretty low key (just Abendbroetchen--nice bread with sliced meat and cheese and tomatoes, plus dessert), and then we sang German Christmas carols at the end. There was a couple visiting from Russia (bringing their daughter back to college? Picking her up? Just stopping in? I missed the initial reason for being there)--they were actually Germans who have been working in Moscow. Their daughter had to suddenly learn English when they moved there so she could attend the international school, and it was so interesting talking to them! We definitely understood what kind of life they had going on! Also, they know a close friend of ours in Germany, so it was almost like meeting distant cousins or something. And it made me terribly homesick for Germany. (Heh--they might be glad to get back to Moscow, though--it's currently warmer there than here.)
