Tornadoes and end of school
May. 25th, 2011 10:13 amI'm really glad my parents, as well as the town I recently moved from in Arkansas, survived the storms. It sounded really terrifying. I noticed that the storms yesterday spawned tornadoes over Texas, including the town my mom used to teach in. And this morning they were headed up to Illinois where I also have lived. It's like the storm system wants to hit every single place I've been.
It does put the snow forecast for tomorrow morning here into perspective. I'd rather have a little spring snow than a tornado!!
Speaking of spring and the end of school, if you had gotten a printed note from the teacher saying that on Wednesday, the kindergarten kids all needed to come in the morning to meet next year's teachers--and that they would all be bused home at 10 am--and then on Wednesday morning you got a call and an e-mail from the school saying, "Parents of kindergarten kids, please come to the school immediately."--wouldn't you be confused? So I went up there because they asked the parents to come immediately. Um. No, they just wanted the afternoon kids to remember to show up this morning.
Right now I'm waiting to see if the school is going to call and tell me to pick up my child. At the beginning of the year, they told us in spoken and written terms that "all kindergarteners will be bused no matter where they live." So ten minutes after school got out, I get a call asking me to pick up my child. Surprise! The "all kindergarten kids" bit didn't apply to getting out in the middle of the day. So we'll see what actually happens this morning. My other kids are getting out at random times, too. The boys, who both go to the middle school, tell me completely different stories. It would be nice if the school would post basic information about exit times on their web site, but...not the case.
