Tornadoes! Just Wow.
May. 24th, 2011 06:02 pmI'm watching live coverage of the Oklahoma tornadoes and I'm quite unable to tear myself away. Especially as it's all heading to my own home state. Really hope people are able to take precautions and be safe, even if things are destroyed. The Joplin tornado really freaked me out. It's about 75 miles from where I used to live, and the current storms are headed for Arkansas right now. My parents are getting extremely tired of the one-two flood-tornado punches. I just can't believe how many strong tornadoes there have been this year.
Idea from Kay Pluta that I thought I'd pass along: keep bike helmets handy for head protection in tornadoes. After growing up doing tornado drills at school with a book over my head, I think helmets are a really good idea! Um, although I hope I never have to use them.
In non-tornado coverage, PMB took a nap while the girls were at after school, and I think I have a chapter! I know there are people who are of the just-write-through-it variety, but if I don't get the beginning set up right, I can't finish the book. Finding the right place to start and what to keep/leave out is taking several tries. This book is being a lot harder to write than the last one.
