It's 48 degrees! It's 9:15 pm and my 2YO is asleep! (Okay, he fell asleep in the car three hours ago, so he'll probably wake up about the time I go to bed--but still.) We have all survived this insanely overscheduled day! Whew. Excuse me while I pass out for a moment.

There. I'm back. Kind of sad, though. I know that we move often, and often have to leave people behind when we do. And we miss them. (Every once in a while I'll be struck with homesickness for some random place from the past--even if I'm enjoying where I currently am, and even if there have been several homes in between.) So it's not like I'm a stranger to moving and its implications. But it's strange to be the one who stays behind. I still can't believe our neighbors are leaving. It's excellent for them--believe me, we know the relief of finding a job that pays enough to live on! But still sad. I was walking home tonight after dark just as they were pulling in, and as soon as their 2YO (PMB's friend) saw me, he got all excited. "I'll get my bike!" Um...not at this hour! I think part of the sad is missing watching these two little boys play. You know that adults will still remember you when you meet up again at some random time, but little kids like that don't have that sense of permanence, and I know PMB is going to be really sad.

I still remember my first friend. Her name was Katrina, and she had a brother named Neal. We were in nursery together at church, so before I turned three. She used to throw toys when she was mad, but never at me. We had a great time playing. I've never met up with her since, but I did reconnect in college with someone who knew me when I was three and she was five. When we realized we'd lived in the same place at the same time, she realized she remembered me as a sunbeam (3YO) in the children's class at church. So you never know... But I'm still going to miss them!
