Busy Tuesday
Mar. 22nd, 2011 10:26 pmWell, the calendar may say spring, but we are having snow all week. At least it's the kind that comes down fast and then melts quickly before coming down again. I don't think I could handle any more snow that plans to stick around another four months.
Our dishwasher is fixed! Yay! It's never really cleaned the dishes, and sometime over a month ago something else went drastically wrong inside, but it's taken this long for the property manager to get the parts and get it put back together. I can't believe how clean the dishes are now! Not to mention how wonderful it is not to have to wash dishes for a family of seven by hand anymore. The world will not end if you don't have a dishwasher, but it surely makes life easier.
I also had a lot of driving today--teaching art, bringing kids to after school and picking them up, driving my husband around (he managed to drop his pocketknife on his bare foot this morning, and ow. It was closed, but the outside is still sharpish, and long walks in the snow didn't seem very fun.) But at the same time I still managed to write about a thousand words on New Project. If I just concentrate on writing the story, I'm good. Well, it's hard because it's new and I'm starting over from scratch, but that's how all books are. When I think about how much I don't know about the setting, eek, then I start to panic. (Anybody here ever been on an archaeological dig?) What I probably need to do, though, is get deep into the story. Then I'll have a better idea of what kinds of research I need to do, and it won't seem so overwhelming. "Deep into the story" usually means about 30K, so I've only got 29,000 words to go...
I hope spring is coming to the rest of the world!
