Valentine's torture
Feb. 12th, 2011 04:32 pmI sure hope we all survive Valentine's Day. Hopefully I am not the only one whose children are TRAUMATIZED by this holiday! My current 10YO is the worst of the lot so far. He lost (purposely, I suspect) his class list, so I made him sign all the cards and just not address them. His idea of a decorated Valentine's container (which he was supposed to do at home) is a brown paper sack with his name on it. I am just hoping I don't get a call from his teacher on Monday. Maybe I'll have to bribe him or something. At least this is his last year doing the Valentine's exchange.
13YO son says, at least you didn't have a DANCE. On Friday, the school sprang a dance on the 7th graders. During class. The math teacher offered 25 extra points who anyone who would dance. Son says he has enough points, thank you very much. But 10YO is not very sympathetic. The 7th grade dance was only an hour and a half. 10YO's required ballroom dance and etiquette class was 9 weeks long, and he HAD to dance with girls.
Someday I will share these stories with my daughters-in-law, although I am not certain at this point if there will ever be any such thing. It will suffice if everyone can be pleasant and courteous on Monday, even if some of us hate the holiday.
Hopefully everyone else has a nice holiday, though!
