Snow ninjas and mud pots
Dec. 30th, 2010 11:43 amWe got a lot of snow two days ago, and we were supposed to get tons yesterday, but it looks like that second installment has been delayed until today. Sometimes I think the weather people don't know that our town exists, because the forecast often doesn't match the sky. I'm still glad we got our driveway dug out yesterday, though--more than a couple inches makes it hard to shovel. And since it's only 12 degrees out there, I prefer to spend as little time as possible in it.
My husband headed off this morning to get his next semester's classes ready. He's our resident ninja.

If I'd known about
pixiechick_sw 's beard hats, I totally would have made him one of those, instead, but as it is we're glad he's got this cover-everything-but-your-eyes hat.
Also, DH's birthday was yesterday (yes, we have an unusually high concentration of birthdays this time of year). I think we finally got the consistency of the filling right. I present--the finally-successful Yellowstone Mud Pot Cake! You need a bundt-shaped cake, a really thick chocolate caramel sealant on the bottom of the "hole," a plumbing tube, and an air pump. Plus a filling that's soft but somewhat viscous. The winning filling involves a marshmallow sauce with regular thin chocolate sauce mixed in.
And finally, I'm doing a first round of revisions on my sparkly new manuscript. I'm up to chapter 9 (of 24) and it's quite strange to see that I'm adding, not subtracting this time. Usually I'm ripping out subplots and useless scenes right and left. Maybe I'm learning something?
