Yeesh, what a day! I was visiting a friend when the school called to say that my 9YO had a stomachache. So I left Little Sweetie playing with her friend there and went to pick up son. Hadn't thrown up, but said he felt like it. They said if I took him he couldn't come back tomorrow (24 hours after stomach symptoms). He claimed he felt sick all afternoon--but he still managed to use the computer. The one thing that keeps me from being completely skeptical is that after complaining that Eurovision was boring tonight, he still burst into tears at the end when his favorite country (which he would never name) didn't make it into the finals. Um...

Then after bringing the 9YO home, I hurried back to the school an hour later because the 8YO was supposed to be in the talent show. Well, I got there and her name wasn't on the program. When she came in with her class, she confirmed that she was indeed NOT in it. (She's in the variety show next week.) Um, but they never told her until today. Look, there are nice ways of telling kids--in advance--that their number isn't going to be included. Waiting until the day of, after they've gotten ready and brought their stuff--is not very nice.

I boxed up most of the boys' books today. Naturally, they immediately wanted several books that have already been moved out.

Little Sweetie got stung or bitten by something, and her arm is a little swollen. She didn't notice when it happened, so hopefully it isn't anything noxious. Will keep and eye on it.

As far as Eurovision, some better songs tonight, with Ireland my favorite (the link is to a previous performance, not tonight's). I liked Cyprus, too. But urk, some awful ones, too. And some of those made it in. There's just a lot of really personality-less songs this time.
