This morning I went to check my mail and I swear I was just reading with my eyes, nothing else. Suddenly I got the Blue Screen of Death.

When I tried to reboot, nothing happened.

DH thinks the motherboard is fried. I am just hoping that the hard disk is okay and retrievable, because I had un-backed-up stuff on there.

And there's always the problem that now I have to fight for computer time on the desktop (we don't have a TV, so it serves as that, as well as four kids trying to take their turn on here).

Today I heard about some sort of commemoration of a Civil War skirmish in the area, but when we got there (admittedly late), we didn't find anything. But it's spring and we had a nice time walking around town, anyhow.  It's spring! Yay!

A funeral home that's actually one of the oldest houses in town, I think. In my mind (for those who have read my book), Whitcomb Funeral Home looks a little like this--only on a hill with bigger grounds before you get to the surrounding housing area.

Here's another really old house, one that survived the Civil War. Either this house or another from its time was used in the filming of the TV miniseries The Blue and the Gray. Which I think I rather ought to watch again, as I'd probably recognize things now that I didn't then.

And finally, here's a really nice example of Ozark stonework. It's this kind of tortiseshell colored rock that's all patched in--in this case, very neatly, although it's not always. But it's very distinctive.
