1. Must find a new book to read, or at least start. I just finished a book that I've heard others talk about in glowing terms, but unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. Maybe I am hopelessly unliterary, but I don't do well with books that have too many POV characters and no plot. (Wilkie Collins's The Woman in White has a ton of POV characters--but each one advances a story. So it's not that I hate multiple POV characters or something.) Each character was only tenuously connected to the others, and it was one of those books where everything is tragic tragic tragic and you are supposed to find some wisps of hope at the end--or at least, if life isn't better, it will be at least different for the character whose mind you are temporarily privy to, now that the tragedy is over. Unfortunately, I don't feel empowered or hopeful by those kinds of books. I don't even feel sad. I just feel kind of squicky. I guess I am a lost cause when it comes to Literary Fiction. Sorry.

2. Last night I stayed up far too late with ideas for revision. That was a good thing, even though I'm tired today. I couldn't finish going through the whole thing, though, which is too bad, since some things work best when you do them in one fell swoop. (Like taking one entire arc through to the end and noting what and where to change.)

3. PMB is walking--really walking, not just a few steps! And he is so excited. He's been able to walk for a long time, but he prefers being carried, of course, or at least to walk holding onto someone's hand or leg. But finally he sees the fun in it. His best moment today was carefully maneuvering to the center of my room tonight while music was on, and dancing without holding onto anything. He's having more fun with walking than any other of my kids that I can remember.
