summer roundup
Jul. 28th, 2009 11:18 amI love the unstructure of summer, but on the other hand, it also means chaos and less opportunity to write. (I don't write to music--AT ALL--and the constant stream of Eurovision all day long from my dear daughters dancing with PMB sort of inhibits the whole writing thing.) Like
robinellen , I have mixed feelings about August. I love having my kids home, and feel sad about them having to start school again (and getting up early--ugh), but it's not like any of us are getting much done right now.
The toe--it is now just reddish, and I think I really did do something drastic to it, but it isn't numb anymore and only hurts when someone steps on it. The current fun is all the chigger bites we all brought back from our little walk in the woods Saturday when we visited my parents.
Since both our books are done, DH and I have moved on to the research and query stage. Fun and nerve-wracking. Now I've got to start on something new. I'm feeling that need build up, but it's hard to find an uninterrupted time before midnight, and I'm not a night writer. Half the creativity is just finding the time to write.
Sewing--I like it, but I'm in awe of anyone who can do this with kids. My mom used to sew when we were little and she always said how much she hated it. Now I know why! I volunteered to sew these school bags for a project my kids are doing (stuffing the bags with school supplies for needy students), and even though the bags take seriously, like 10 minutes to sew, it's taking me WEEKS. Everyone wants to sit on the presser foot and stick their noses under the needle. I like sewing itself, but it's just one of those hobbies that I can't do until the kids are bigger.
Okay, time to get going and see what I can accomplish while PMB is trashing his sisters' room. I hope you are all enjoying the chaos of summer!
