Remember my son's dream about publication for me? My husband dreamed last night that I was represented by Dream Agent.

Awesome, huh?

In the dream, the agent had set up an Author Event for me.

Cool, huh?

Unfortunately, said agent couldn't be present because of a conflict. The agent also represented Hilary Clinton, and would be at her event, instead.

Oh, well.

Also, my event was being held in Pakistan.

Maybe my family doesn't need to dream my dreams for me, after all.

Oh, yes--for anyone interested, the schoolwide spelling bee was yesterday. DH went to watch. (I would have liked to go--but Lap Boy is in an Ultimate Interaction and Action stage right now, wanting to talk and walk and being as wiggly and loud as possible.)

The boys did well. Son 2 came in 6th and son 1 in 4th. Considering they spent the past two years learning German spelling, I'm impressed. (Especially with son 2, whose previous American school experience was only kindergarten.) They both got out on words relating to English language. Son 2's was elephant, which he spelled German (Elefant), and son 1 got out on mosque, a word that he has only encountered in German (he can spell Moschee just fine, and has spent time with the word in school there, unlike in English). Apparently they took the loss pretty well, all things considered. I'm glad they had the chance to compete. DH and I had a lot of fun in school in various academic competitions, and they were fun. I just don't want my kids to be those people who come apart if they come in second--like those Olympic people who wail and rend their clothes and pour on ashes when they get--gasp!--only a silver medal. I figure competitions like this are kind of like being on a sports team for those who are athletic--of course you hope to win, but ultimately, it's about playing the game and having fun.
