Okay, so this is like the third metafictional book I've read in the past week. Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians, a MG by Brandon Sanderson, was more active story, less metafiction than Thursday Next: First among Sequels, by Jasper Fforde, or The Clue of the Linoleum Lederhosen, by MT Anderson, but it was still mind candy for people who like books. I think if I liked math, I'd read a calculus textbook whenever I felt stressed, but since I don't, metafiction fits the bill nicely. All thinking, no feeling, and it's a nice break. (My ultimate comfort reading, though, would be Harry Potter, which I curled up with the other night. Now, finally, after reading book 7, I feel McGonagall and Dumbledore's mourning over James and Lily's deaths. Okay, so that's not comforting, but it's interesting to read the first book now that I know "everything.")

A few building names from the U of Ark for you: Carnall Hall (please tell me this isn't a residence hall), Pomfret (the honors hall), and Yocum (uh, NOT the honors hall). Someone obviously has a sense of humor.

Oh, and I just found out that my first grader is in an English intervention program. The school said they were testing my kids, but I never heard anything more about it. The ESL teacher was on car pick up duty the other day and asked me to ask DD not to be so silly during ESL, because it's disrupting the learning process. I guess I'm glad they are giving her supplementary help? But it would be nice to have been told.

Ooh--silence in the house. Maybe, if I don't think too loudly, I can ease out the writing/revision plan (I am NOT calling it an outline) for the WIP. Er, if I don't fall asleep first. Sleep has been worth more lately than the $8/gallon organic milk at the local organic grocery store.
