The consulate finally called this morning. We have an appointment to register our baby as an American born abroad, and to apply for his passport. Yay!

The bad news is that it's at 11 am tomorrow in Munich. Here, 1.5-2 hours away, our kids get out of school around 11:30. It's the last day of school and they will all need to go and to bring stuff home. And so far I haven't been able to find a babysitter. Okay, so I've only reached one person, who had something concurrently going on in another town. No one else is home yet. And I admit that calling people up to ask for favors combines two things I really hate to do (call people and ask them to do things). I have some more ideas, but man, I wish it was already taken care of. We'll be taking Little Sweetie, so it's only the three older kids who need a Responsible Person in the vicinity. Still. Am I the only one who finds it hard to ask for things like this? I am such a wuss.

ETA: Erledigt! The boys are going home with one friend and someone will pick up older daughter. Whew. Once we get this passport I can relax (we won't get it tomorrow, but at least it will be on its way). Then it's just clean, pack, repeat, clean, pack, repeat until we leave.

I really just want to read books to my baby when he's awake, and write when he's asleep, though.
