You know you're thinking about revisions and plot structures too much when you start letting them dictate your dreams. Last night I dreamed I was on this bus trip to a cool place and was taking pictures all over (and getting some nice nature shots, too!), and then we all ended up at this camp. It was supposed to be some kind of work-related thing, only it was run by this mind-controlling, secretive group (I shouldn't read the news before bedtime, either, huh?) that was all about stealing people's IDs and forcing them to work for free. When I realized my camera, my drivers license, passport, and any identifying documents had been swiped, I started wringing my hands. And then in the middle of the dream, I said, Stop! It's time to take charge, act, and let the consequences fall! So I marched into the compound when the head honcho was out and started going through drawers and desks. When he got back I demanded my stuff back. He threw it all at me--but by then I realized my mistake. I should have taken as many other people's things and as much proof as I could with me. Because that was the catch: he'd give your stuff back to you, but you'd know your friends and family members were still trapped there. He hoped you'd stay because of them. But I was done with wimpy characters, and marched right out of there to report him, friends or not. I woke up feeling rather empowered. :)

I've been tagged by [profile] robinellenfor the six random things meme. Tomorrow is a holiday (May 1/Labor Day, and coincidentally, also Christi Himmelfahrt--Ascension Day), kids have had activities all afternoon, and spouse is again researching in a distant town, so I'm feeling pretty random at the moment. Here goes.

1. My daughter gets a twice-a-week German class courtesy of the Bavarian department of education. I was a little early and the class was a little late, so I got to wait for half an hour in the hall at the kindergarten. One little boy of about four was on one. He kept letting off this loud, monotone yell about every five seconds that reverberated through the entire building. He wasn't upset; he just wanted everyone to look at him. His poor teachers put him in the hall, and eventually outside. Unfortunately for him (and fortunately for the rest of the people), his voice finally gave out. This is a kid who definitely belongs in a book, but who I'm glad is not in my charge!

2. Another way to treat warts: paint them with clear nail polish. Not so funny-looking as duct tape, and it accomplishes the same purpose, ie, to starve the virus of oxygen.

3. I'm rereading a paperback edition of Susan Cooper's Greenwitch. It is very 60s-looking, with random text in green, and funky pictures. It makes me think of reading my mom's paperbacks from when she was a schoolteacher in the 60s. Some good stuff there!

4. Unicycles are very popular among 10-year-old girls in our neighborhood.

5. Most German kids get vaccinated against Lyme's disease. Why don't we do that in the States??

6. It's spring! I'm excited!
