Days that start out with two broken dishes and children shrieking the lyrics to Die Aerzte's Wegen Dir song (because of you) do not bode well for the rest of the weekend. I'm so glad the kids are doing their homework, but it would be nice if I didn't have to wrest the scissors away from Smallest Child before she chopped up the shoebox diarama of child #2. (It doesn't help that said shoebox originally belonged to Littlest Child and was appropriated without going through the proper channels. Why do schools demand instant shoebox material? I guess I should keep a stack of them, but I don't like to hoard garbage when I don't have to.)

On the positive side, I have outlines for presentations I have to do tomorrow (DH is correcting the German now) and Thursday (in English--hurray for translators!). And my three oldest are going on a playdate to someone else's house for three hours this afternoon. I wonder--if I pick all the flax seeds out of the rice this morning, and DH is finally able to collapse (he didn't fall asleep until four this morning thanks to a sinus infection), maybe maybe I can write on some of my own stuff?

Not holding out huge hopes, though. If I can just get through the immediate deadlines I have, it will be nice.

ETA: I wonder if I will ever be able to write anything in German that doesn't come back from grammar corrections looking like it needs a blood transfusion. Sigh. I'm glad I live with a Doctor of the German language, and I did ask for it. I just wish I could just talk right, you know? Correcting this thing is taking longer than writing it (in English) did in the first place.
