Via Cheryl Klein's blog is a link to someone in the US who urgently needs a bone marrow transplant. Because of the difficulty of finding a match as I've already described, many people fail to undergo this simple process to save their lives. Here's a woman in the US looking for a match. Normally it costs money to register (because of the process of analyzing a DNA sample, I assume), but this is an opportunity to register for free. All it takes is a simple cheek swab. If you're a match you could save someone's life through a relatively simple process (here in Germany, anyway, it works just like donating plasma). So if you were wishing you could help my daughter's friend but were in the wrong country, here's your chance to do some good for someone closer to home.
Speaking of the friend, her process should happen this weekend--I hope all goes well and she feels better soon!!
