I don't know how many of you read Terry Pratchett, but my computer has now been Igor-ized. The last one that died had at least a functioning motherboard and, more importantly (at least, according to the latest theory), functioning capacitors. The thermal paste was great for a day and a half, and then we went back to square one. So, DH spent the afternoon doing a heart-lung transplant. The machine I have currently has the keyboard and screen and DVD drive from my new computer, and the insides of my old one. We'll see how it works. If it continues to work that will be great. The annoying part will be transferring all my files back to the machine I'm currently using (I can't call it new or old at this point). But I guess it will be worth it if I have a functioning laptop.
