Last time I tried to write a synopsis I could do it in no shorter than 750 words. I liked those words. They flowed, they told a story, and they sounded all right. But the focus of the story has shifted some since I wrote those words, enough that I can't use it any more. And now, I can easily write a one-paragraph summary of the book, but there are enough subplots that matter that I can't seem to expand it any without getting too complicated.

I HATE SYNOPSES!!!!!

@$#@^%$%&)(*&^#^*)(*&(*$^%$*&^&(*)(*$@$#!%$&*)(&(*^&^%$^CD#$%$*U&(*&^&$^%$&^^&(*

(That's the sound of me flinging the puzzle pieces of my plot against the wall, in case you're wondering.)

Thanks, everyone, for the synopsis sympathy. I worked on it some day. Oldest daughter had her first day of preschool (which is a separate event tacked on to the end of the kindergarten day), and was gone for several hours later than normal. Which meant that littlest daughter got a nap at the right time of day, and that younger son got to do his homework without a lot of competition for Attention from Mom. And then he went off to choir and oldest son had the same quiet environment to quickly do homework. I was looking forward to doing the letter B with older daughter once she got home, but when I went to pick her up, the kids came streaming out at me saying she'd just fallen off the slide. They were applying ice when I got there, but her head wasn't the problem (although her face is scratched all over). Apparently the kids were jostling each other to be first to the slide, and she fell off the ramp leading up to it and landed flat on her stomach, then rolled down the hill. I took her to the pediatrician, who said no concussion, but wanted a closer look at her spleen. We went to the surgery clinic and got an ultrasound, and were sent to the children's clinic with the mixed message of, "We didn't find anything major" and "We're having her stay overnight (actually, the time was unspecified) in the children's hospital." She's actually in the intensive care unit at the moment. They say they want to make sure no problems develop or something. I waited until she fell asleep and came home since I have no car and don't know when the buses stop running, and there was no place for me to be overnight. But I'll be back there first thing in the morning. I'm reassured by the fact that Germans are overly cautious when it comes to health, but I'm a little freaked out by exactly where she is. So um, any good thoughts/prayers you want to send her way are welcome.
