summer has arrived

I know you all in the US have been having heat waves for a long time, but last week it was in the 50s, and today it's 90. Nobody in Germany has air conditioning. The kids got sent home early for "Hitzefrei" (short day due to heat), but I'm not sure how they're supposed to be cooler at home than they were at school.

We live close to a pool, and every day the kids have wanted to go, only when it's 55 and raining, it's hard to get excited. Of course today we have activities stacked from the time my husband comes home until the time we go to bed. Waa.

(Maybe I'm a wimp, but I just don't think I can watch four small children on my own at a pool, especially when most of them can't swim.)
