On bullying
Mar. 13th, 2007 03:10 pmMy third-grader was quiet when he came home from school today. After asking some questions about his day and getting the standard "it was fine" response, I asked point-blank if he'd had any problems either with the teacher or another student. (You can usually tell when your kid is having interpersonal problems--they seem preoccupied when they usually aren't.) His answer? Just at the end of the day when they were getting ready to go home, one of the boys in his class flipped the end of his scooter up on purpose and it hit him in the face.
More people have brushes with bullying in childhood and the teen years than they are brave enough to admit. But if you have experience and care to share, I'd love to know how you've refused to be a victim.
