Good things (mostly)
Mar. 11th, 2007 09:50 pmI love when relatives come to visit and I get to show them all the cool things (and some of the weird things) about Germany. My brother-in-law and his wife are visiting this week. Yay! They brought great books for the kids and also nail polish for daughter #1. Too bad there's school this week, but we'll travel as much as we can around that (German schools go half day, plus homework).
I hate the fact that my laptop is disintegrating (a number of keys don't type anymore, and pieces are falling off, and the light is going on the screen), but as soon as we move everything over (and tape the battery in place so it stops falling off), I get a new-used laptop. Yay! Now I can upgrade to a version of Adobe Acrobat from the current century!
I love my 2-year-old, who took a four hour nap this afternoon, and who is vividly awake right now (10 pm), telling me, "Meine Mommy! Ich liebe dich!" (My Mommy! I love you!)
I love the fact that my husband gets the writing thing, and that I have a great writing group.
I love when editors and agents share their thought processes, even if my opinion on what's appealing and what's not doesn't always mirror theirs. Doesn't mean either of us is "wrong" in our tastes. I can disagree over tastes and still admire thought processes and honest reasoning. I doubt any of you will ever read this, but if you do, thank you. Respecting writers enough to share your insights creates respect in return.
There. That *almost* makes me feel better about the whole submissions process.
