It's spring break today, and the sun is shining and it feels like spring! Broken trees are blooming and it's light outside. Yay! DH has a lot of work to do over the break so we aren't going far. I want to go here, but I think the drive is just too far for a day trip.

Area news--boy and girl basketball teams, both undefeated, from the same school, win their division. I'm sure much celebration ensued. Since my MC started playing team sports, I'm much more aware of this. (The days of news stories/multiple page spreads kind of makes you aware, too.)

I spent the morning driving around to find the cheapest mailing option for a package to South America. Just so you know, there is a significant difference in cost between sending something USPS through a UPS store and just going to the post office. And USPS was def. cheaper than UPS!!! (Like, $38 compared to $188.)

Not sure how much writing I'll get done while I'm the One Responsible Adult among five kids all day, but hopefully we'll have fun. I hope your week is spring-y!

Wow, that's a huge price difference!

Happy spring to you and your lovely kids. :)

The broken trees blooming cracked me up. Around here the city is still picking up piles of branches. What about there?

There's this one pile at the corner of a road I take to the store everyday. I hate it! I wished they'd get over there before a wreck happens because it blocks the coming traffic from view badly.

Oh, we still have loads and loads and loads. Our street got picked up--three times--but we're one block in from a main road. There is a street my husband used to walk to work that still has some branches. There's no shoulder, the street is narrow, hilly, and has poor visibility, and trying to navigate that is really messy. We drove up it today and had to drive on the other side to get around the cherry picker truck--but hey, they were doing something. There's just so much to do--it will take a while.

Enjoy your sun!

That mine looks like fun! I think school sports are one of the main reasons for local newspapers still being in existence--it seems, sometimes, like half the paper is about the recent games! :) Have you read Dairy Queen?

Yes--excellent book!

Our paper has a sports section, plus significant pageage devoted to sports in like, basically every other section. We like us some football around here. :) (Er, speaking collectively and not personally--it's my character who plays, not me.)
