Chapter 2 is killing me. If I could only get that put together, I'd be good for the rest of the book.

As it is, I have piles of mildly interesting anecdotes.

Oh why, when I throw the pages of my draft at the wall, does the Right Answer not stick?

I have to smile at this because I SO know how this feels. It will work out, though. A lot of times, those are the big WOW moments of writing when the problems unkink themselves and become clear. Good luck! It's going to be great!

I hope so. I think I'm pretty expert at writing unconnected, unrelated scenes, but that's not what I'm trying to do...

Have you read Hooked, by Les Edgerton. His stuff on beginnings is really good & might spark a light bulb? :)

No--but I'm going to the library tomorrow (Hunger Games is in), and I will see if they have it. Thanks for the suggestion! I know *what* I need there, in terms of plot elements, but *how* to do it is beyond me at the moment.

When you do get the "throw the draft at the wall to work" email me and let me know how you did it. :) Good luck with it -- I know it can be frustrating. But hang in there.

Oh, I'll let you know if I discover the secret!
