progress!

King of Attolia was great. I didn't stay up all night to finish (too little sleep lately), but I did have a chance this afternoon. Queen of Attolia didn't work so well for me, but I liked how Turner backed up and had us see Gen through Costis's eyes. Gen and Irene's relationship was much more believeable through the window than from Gen's mind--or what he chose to reveal. A bit tough to keep up with all the ancient Greek-like names, especially since it's been awhile since I read the other books, but I still really enjoyed it.

I also wrote some bits of conversation last night, just to fix the scene in my mind, and tonight I fleshed out some more. 1000 words today, without noticing how quickly they were piling up. *Happy sigh.* I love when writing goes this well! I definitely need more pondering time in my life. Unfortunately, my to-do list has just ballooned by huge proportions.

I want to write more, I've learned through sad experience that one sleepless night might yield a lot of new words, but then I'm spent for the next several days. I never was able to pull an all-nighter in school.

Besides, I've got The Pinhoe Egg lined up next. Have to be awake for that!

Yeah, writing is great like that...but I know what you mean about sleep -- it always seems like I'm trying to catch up in that regard :)

The first day my last kid starts school, I'm going home, turning off the phone, and pulling the covers over my head until the school bus shows back up. (The second day we'll consider getting up to write :). My feelings towards sleep parallel the feelings people have about sunlight in that Ray Bradbury story "All Summer in a Day." Is it a myth? Must be, since it only happens once every seven years or so.

I really liked The Thief, but haven't felt compelled to pick up Queen. But I have to read it to get to the good one, right?

Yep :).
