Wow. Fabulous local orchestra concert tonight. My parents got in town today after visiting other relatives along the Utah-Idaho corridor, and just in time. They really enjoyed it, too. Tchaikovsky, Pucchini, Bernstein, and Weber (Andrew Lloyd). There was a little boy a few rows in front of us who just about went out of his skin in excitement when they started West Side Story. His mom took him out to calm down and stop dancing around, and since his little brother fell asleep, she eventually took them both home--but I was really enjoying watching him get into it.

My own favorite was the Pucchini--they did a selection from La Boheme, which is just fabulous music. They put up subtitles, and the soloists did a bit of acting, too, and it was just funny. And really good music! I guess all Pucchini/Italian opera has the same plot line (poor artists fall in love, and she dies of tuberculosis), but the music is great and you can sort of overlook the unoriginal storyline. That one was in the smack middle of the program, but they still got a standing ovation--so, not just out of habit or whatever. It was good.

Tomorrow we're hoping to go to the planetarium, but we'll see. We've already been burning the candle at both ends.

I hope you're all having a nice June!
