Happy Thanksgiving!
Nov. 24th, 2011 02:40 pmSitting here waiting for the turkey to finish; nearly everything else is done. Last year there were a lot of failed travel plans due to a blizzard; we may get snow and driving snow tonight, but today was in the mid 50s. This morning I took the 6YO to a community choir concert. It was one of those rare events where you feel like you're sitting down together with your town family. And the music--um, wow? From Holst to Home on the Range, basically everything they did was amazing. It was a free, donations-accepted sort of performance, yet the quality was as good as anything I've paid a lot of money for. I've gone to opera and orchestra concerts in Germany, and I'm still impressed. If you want music, come to Idaho!
Then we took a quick drive over to the sand dunes with everyone.

It was warm enough for the kids to take off their jackets and shoes and run around (well, until their feet got too cold)--yet there was still old snow on the dunes. And some odd layers, too, with a foot of snow under a couple inches of sand. The kids called it cookies and cream sand.

There were some interesting animal tracks, too.

We had to slide/ski down the dunes to get back. I nearly flipped over my head, but it was fun!

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!
