Snow! Seriously. Winter is here. :( Look, it's not that I dislike snow--it's just that my town absolutely, completely does not do anything to the roads. People think I'm exaggerating when I say this--until they get here and see that no, the city does not plow or salt roads. They might throw an occasional bit of dirt over a handful of intersections. But overall, it's quite dangerous and scary to drive on roads like this. There is a city election this week, and I'm very tempted to vote solely based on what people plan to do with the roads. I mean, they don't even clear school parking lots. Right now the roads have melted off, but after seeing last year, I'm just dreading the ice cover.
Other than that, it was a nice weekend. My in-laws are up in the area, and as I happen to have excellent ones, it was nice visiting with them. The kids were excited to see their grandparents, and Grandma even got to help Little Sweetie with the astronomical amount of makeup work from when she was out sick on Thursday. (She has more homework than my 8th grader, and she's only in 1st. And she is out again today, so tomorrow is going to be intense on the homework front.)
So yes, we also still have the stomach flu in our house. It's a really horrible one, and we thought we were done--until we came home yesterday afternoon and Little Sweetie threw up. She's better today, but still home from school to make sure it's really over. I'm starting to get a buildup of things that have to be done around here that I can't do when we're all being held hostage by flu germs. Nanowrimo, Christmas shopping, doing some sewing things for Christmas, eye appointments, other routine medical checkups, kids who urgently need new shoes and boots, carpet cleaning...so many things we can't do unless people are well and out of the house. Argh! I really hope this is the end of it!
