Want books
Jun. 2nd, 2011 04:43 pmAs long as it's dry and sunny, 54 isn't THAT bad. On the other hand, it's a little hard to go back to after 75 degrees yesterday. I can report, however, that spring is finally coming. When you go uphill and look over the whole valley, it's green in every direction. And sometime between when I checked today and when I checked last week, the last snow in town is gone!
Ever have one of those days where you just can't find anything you feel like reading at the library, but there are several books on your TBR list that you are dying to read, only you visit all the stores in town that sell books and they don't carry any of them? I want to buy books. I want to walk into a bookstore and buy them. Yes, give money to a local bookstore, make them happy, make the author happy, and give me instant gratification. Even though it's cheaper for me to order on line. So it's a sad day when I have money burning in my pocket (er, or at least a credit card) and would so totally slap it down for the right book. But the right book (none of the 4+ I had in mind, actually) isn't there. One store even looked like they'd halved their small selection of middle grades. (I was looking for the newest Penderwicks book.)
I also can't find an edger in this town. All they sell are $70+ weedeaters. I just want a simple hand tool to edge my lawn. I didn't realize it was so exotic. Maybe I will have to drive to the metropolis of Idaho Falls (pop. 50,000, but it might as well be 500,000). I don't think I'll call ahead to find out if Lowe's has one. That way I'll have to look. And if I'm at Lowe's, I'm close to B&N...
