If you can't beat them... (snow)
Jan. 29th, 2011 03:19 pmThere was a snow festival in the area today. Seriously. Because there will be four more months of this stuff, it's time to celebrate! Yes. Anyway. I never would have expected it to be so hard to find a sled in this town. We almost just brought black trash bags to slide on, but then we found one store with one last round plastic sled. Well, we should have stuck with the trash bags because it hit some ice and broke on the very first run. We've duct-taped it, but still...grrr.
The rest of the snow fest was nice, though. The younger kids got to ride in a horse wagon and there was a booth with spray bottles of colored water to do snow graffiti, and there was hot chocolate, and oh yeah, the diving! In the middle of winter, in Idaho, outside! Yes. Someone around here has been paying too much attention to those crazy people up in Scandinavia who swim in snow.
Meanwhile, kids were sledding not only down hill, but from the top of a 10-foot snowbank. Fun.
I guess if you can't get rid of the snow, you might as well find a way to enjoy it?
