We're supposed to get five inches. In this storm. Another one comes in tomorrow? That one shouldn't have as much--but the highs after that will be around zero. Yep. We live next to Santa, like I said. Really wishing I'd realized we were nearly out of eggs yesterday when I was at the store. And I'm really glad that in a worst-case scenario, we live within walking distance of stores. Um. With a sled, that is. (Makes a mental note to ask Santa for one for Christmas.)
I stayed up lateish last night because I was working on putting pieces together in my WIP. I think my process involves writing about 30K so that I know what the characters are all about and what the important things are that need to be in the book, and then going back and building a story out of that. And there were some key details I needed to work out, which also involved brainstorming micro black holes with my boys. The 10YO keeps coming up with things he'd like in the story (that don't really fit)--he's quite creative and word-oriented, and I'm betting he'll end up as a writer as well. He got sidetracked on a plot tangent, but in the process I figured out what the invention they're looking for would look like, and where it could be hidden. Now I just need to strew some clues. And figure out some connections between a few characters. I'm not a fast writer, alas. Maybe I should have waited until all my kids were in school, because I seriously write in fifteen second increments some days. But when my kids are around is also when I have the most inspiration, so... But I'm making progress, anyway.
